Percussion Band

Co-Curricular Activities

The Canossian School Percussion Band (CSPB) was formed in 1989 consisting of students with a hearing loss.

In line with the school’s educational system which used the Auditory-Oral Programme, the formation of the school band allows the hearing impaired to be exposed to a wide variety of rhythms, beats and intonation of music. By giving the members the opportunity to perform to an audience, it not only boosts their self-esteem and confidence, it also helps to promote an integrated and harmonious development of the individuals.

Over the years, the Canossian School Percussion Band has had the honour to be invited to perform in many local events as well as International Conventions held in Singapore. The band has also taken part in music exchange programmes in Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Japan. The percussion band participated in the Singapore Youth Festival in April 2018. Some members also performed at the National Day Parade in the same year.

To uphold the school’s mission to serve and contribute back to society, Canossian School Percussion Band has brought much joy to in-patients of the Singapore General Hospital, the St Andrew’s Community Hospital and Bright Vision Hospital during Christmas time. It also performed for distinguished guests at the Lexus Charity Golf Dinner and at a charity dinner hosted by ESM Goh Chok Tong to raise funds for a PCF Kindergarten in Marine Parade.

It will continue to look for opportunities for its members to love and serve through music.
